
Sidney Rice, a wide receiver from Gaffney was named All-Heart Player-of-the-Week by Coach Steve Spurrier and the USC coaching staff for his performance during the Florida game on Nov. 11. The All-Heart award is presented to individuals who display leadership, initiative and “heart” in athletics, academics and life.
Rice, a 6’ 4” RS Sophomore has sustained his success from his freshman campaign and continues to be the Gamecock’s “go-to guy.” With big play capabilities, Rice has established himself as the number one target on the Gamecocks receiving core. Coach Spurrier calls Rice a “super receiver” and says that he is, “really competing well right now.” Look for more highlight-reel catches from this Gamecock WR during the rest of the season.
Providence Heart & Vascular Institute, often referred to as South Carolina’s “Heart Hospital,” is recognized statewide as a referral center for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The hospital developed the All-Heart Player-of-the-Week award to recognize USC athletes for their contributions on and off the field.
