Jasper Brinkley Named All-Heart Player of the Week

Jasper Brinkley, a senior free linebacker from Thomson, Georgia, was named All-Heart Player of the Week by Coach Spurrier and the University of South Carolina coaching staff. The All-Heart award is presented to individuals who display leadership, initiative and “heart” in athletics, academics, and life.

Jasper Brinkley started for the gamecocks against Louisiana State University, and later returned to the game after suffering a right knee sprain and made three tackles against the tigers. In four games this season, Brinkley registered 21 tackles, including 15 solo stops. He leads the team with two interceptions, including one in the final seconds to preserve the 16-12 win at Georgia. He has started all 17 games since his arrival on the South Carolina campus.
