Cory Boyd Named Providence All-Heart Player of the Week

Cory BoydCory Boyd, a senior running back from Orange, New Jersey, was named All-Heart Player of the Week by Coach Spurrier and the University of South Carolina coaching staff. The All-Heart award is presented to individuals who display leadership, initiative and “heart” in athletics, academics, and life.

Boyd had 14 rushing attempts for 78 yards including a nine-yard touchdown in the first quarter. He ran for the Georgia game's only touchdown and averaged 5.4 yards per carry in the win over the 11th-ranked team.

Providence Heart & Vascular Institute, often referred to as South Carolina’s “Heart Hospital,” is recognized statewide as a referral center for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The hospital developed the All-Heart Player-of-the-Week award to recognize USC athletes for their contributions on and off the field.
