2007-10-29

Andy BoydAndy Boyd, a veteran tight end from Concord, NC, was named All-Heart Player of the Week by Coach Steve Spurrier and the University of South Carolina coaching staff. The all heart award is presented to individuals who display leadership, initiative, and “heart” in athletics, academics and life.

Boyd, a 6’4” senior, caught one pass for seven yards against the Tennessee Volunteers. Andy earned second team ALL-SEC honors by the league’s coaches despite playing in just nine games in the 2006 season. He did not participate in spring practices due to a shoulder injury. After the spring, he returned as one of the best blockers on the squad and three of his four career interceptions have gone for touchdowns.
