William Brown Named Providence All-Heart Player of the Week

Webb BrownWilliam (Webb) Brown, an offensive lineman from Boonville, NC, was named All-Heart Player of the Week by Coach Spurrier and the University of South Carolina coaching staff. The all heart award is presented to individuals who display leadership, initiative, and “heart” in athletics, academics and life.

Brown, a 6’4” senior, anchored an offensive line that helped lead the Gamecocks to 36 points with 489 total offensive yards against the Arkansas Razorbacks. William was nominated as the Most Improved Offensive Lineman following spring drills and is considered “a leader off the field.” He is also the SEC representative to NCAA Division I National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and serves on the NCAA’s Football Issues Committee. In addition, he was named to the SEC’s Good Works Team.

Providence Heart & Vascular Institute, often referred to as South Carolina’s “Heart Hospital,” is recognized statewide as a referral center for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The hospital developed the All-Heart player program to recognize USC athletes for their contributions on and off the field.
