Role shadow a Providence employee and learn more about the different jobs and roles people have in the hospital. Role shadowing is a great way to see firsthand what is involved in a health care career. Simply choose a medical discipline in which you are interested, and Providence will partner you with employees or licensed, independent practitioners in that field. You’ll spend a day observing staff members performing various clinical and non-clinical duties. And even though you won’t provide direct care or perform any duties, you’ll learn about day-to-day life in a hospital and the different people involved.
Maximum job shadow is 16 hours of observation. For any needs beyond 16 hours, please contact Tabitha Soderstrom at tabitha.soderstrom@providencehospitals.com.
A clinical job shadow is a non-hands on opportunity to learn from a professional for longer than an 8 hour period of time. Occasionally colleges will require additional hours of job shadowing as a prerequisite to apply for their programs. Some examples may be Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physician Assistant. Requirements vary by school.
Opportunities for College, Advanced Degree, or Second career students to job shadow consist of 16 hours or less. In order to help ease the process of Job Shadow possibilities exploration, Providence Hospitals has put together some tools and guidelines. We hope you'll find the following of great benefit, and we wish you all the best in your exploration of the great and rewarding field of health care!
