The Society of St. Luke was established to recognize and honor selected members of the Medical Staff of Providence Hospitals for their distinguished service to their patients, the mission of the hospitals and the communities we serve.
St. Luke, an author of one of the four Gospels, was also a physician. Recognized as the “Patron Saint of Physicians,” he studied medicine at Tarsus and rose to prominence in his profession. In his Gospel, St. Luke emphasized Jesus’ concern for humanity, especially the poor and neglected. He wrote about the Lord’s many miracles of healing. The spirit of St. Luke continues today in The Society of St. Luke of Providence Hospitals.
In addition to recognizing and honoring our outstanding physicians, The Society serves to maintain a lasting relationship between active and retired Providence Hospitals’ Medical Staff.
We are proud to honor our physicians and preserve the legacy of their outstanding career accomplishments and their selfless contributions to the field of medicine.
Inductees into The Society of St. Luke will be announced each Spring. There will be a black-tie dinner honoring the newly inducted members.
A permanent commemoration of our distinguished members is located in the downtown hospital on our Wall of Recognition.
