Providence accepts the policies of health insurance companies and bills them for inpatient, outpatient and emergency room service. Generally, insurance group plans, Medicare, Tri-Care Standard, HMOs (Health Maintenance Organizations), PPOs (Preferred Provider Organizations) and other such plans pay most of your bill. What they don't pay is classified as a deductible, co-insurance or both. Patients are responsible for any unpaid balance of their bills. For more information about health care plans accepted by Providence, please see Insurance Plans.
Individual plans and other insurance plans may pay a certain amount per day, which may be significantly less than billed charges. These policies are usually used to pay deductibles and co-insurance of group plans or to help pay for other medical costs.
