Nursing Units-Critical Care

Hospital BedMCCU (Medical Coronary Care Unit)

  • This is a 12-bed medical coronary intensive care unit.
  • Our case mix includes acute myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock, arrhythmias (VT, bradycardia, uncontrolled atrial fibrillation, etc.) and cardiopulmonary arrest.
  • We utilize in-room hardwire GE monitors, hemodynamic monitoring, intra-aortic balloon pump therapy (IABP), sheath removal, intravenous temporary pacing and high-risk IV medication therapy (Neosynephrine, Vasopressin, etc.).
  • In-room hardwire GE monitors, hemodynamic monitoring, intra-aortic balloon pump therapy (IABP), sheath removal, intravenous temporary pacing and high-rish IV medication therapy (Neosynephrine, Vasopressin, etc.)
  • Code White rapid response team participants are available in this unit.
  • Multidisciplinary AM rounding.
  • ACLS and BCLS certification is required within one year of employment; training is provided.
  • The staff is encouraged to become ACLS and BCLS instructors.
  • Flexible scheduling is available.

CSR (Cardiovascular Surgical Recovery)

  • This is a recovery and CVICU unit for heart and vascular patients.
  • This unit receives all patients from CV surgery.
  • We utilize in-room hardwire GE monitors, hemodynamic monitoring, intra-aortic balloon pump therapy (IABP), CRRT, GVAD, Abimed, intravenous temporary pacing and high-risk IV medication therapy (Neosynephrine, Vasopressin, etc.).
  • We were recognized as one of the best nursing teams in the Southeast by Advance for Nurses magazine in 2005.
  • Code White rapid response team participants are available in this unit.
  • Multidisciplinary AM rounding.
  • ACLS and BCLS certification is required within one year of employment; training is provided.
  • Flexible scheduling is available.

ICU (Intensive Care Unit)

Downtown campus:

  • The ICU is a new 14-bed unit.
  • We have state-of-the-art Hill-Rom Total Care Sport Beds.
  • We utilize in-room hardwire GE monitors, hemodynamic monitoring, sheath removal, intravenous temporary pacing and high-risk IV medication therapy (Neosynephrine, Vasopressin, etc.).
  • The case mix includes CRRT patients at the downtown campus.
  • Code White rapid response team participants are available in this unit.
  • Multidisciplinary AM rounding.
  • Flexible scheduling is available.

Northeast campus:

  • The ICU is a four-bed unit.
  • We utilize in-room hardwire GE monitors, hemodynamic monitoring, sheath removal, intravenous temporary pacing and high-risk IV medication therapy (Neosynephrine, Vasopressin, etc.).
  • Code White rapid response team participants are available in this unit.
  • Multidisciplinary AM rounding.
  • Flexible scheduling is available.
