Providence Hospitals provides continuing education courses which help the healthcare provider perform every aspect of their job better. As a result of helping a provider do their job better, this improves patient safety, health outcomes, compliance and patient satisfaction.
Providence Hospitals aims to be an innovative education provider by offering unique and original brand of courses. Providence Hospitals is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the South Carolina Nurses Association, and accredited provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Based on needs assessment and performance gaps we may apply as a provider for any type of professional continuing education requested. All continuing education programs are designed to provide growth and development in healthcare knowledge and skill of the targeted audiences.
Health Care Continuing Education Program Development and Evaluation: Services provided to enhance organization effectiveness includes assessment, design, implementation, and evaluation of customized solutions.
Needs Assessment and Performance Gap Analysis: Organizational needs assessments and performance gap analyses are conducted on an ongoing basis to determine training plans and knowledge management needs. Needs for training and non-training services are identified through a review of organizational plans, hospital mission and values, hospital’s goals, PI initiatives, risk management and patient safety data, case mix of patient population served, technology used to care for the patients, equipment safety, patient care expectations, survey evaluations and requests. An annual needs assessment is conducted in August.
Instructional Design: Learning is designed considering adult learning principles, adult learning philosophies, learning styles, methodologies, and resources needed to obtain effective outcomes. In addition to traditional learning methodologies, e-learning modules and clinical simulation training is designed and delivered.
Training Delivery: Qualified trainers conduct or coordinate training sessions intended to teach people what they do not currently know but need to know.
Measurement and Evaluation: Ongoing evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of educational programs are conducted using the Kirkpatrick’s evaluation levels to ensure that learning outcomes and organizational outcomes are improved. Measures are benchmarked against best practice organizations. Surveys are conducted at the end of each program and 3-6 months after the program to evaluate learning application in the work setting. The following learning performance measures are evaluated:
- Operational excellence with optimal return on investment. Learning is aligned with the strategic initiatives.
- Compliance with mandated regulations.
- Time to competency is minimal.
- Learning is effective and applied during work activities, consistently proving values to the organization.
- Workforce performance.
