Critical Care Specialty Orientation

The Critical Care Specialty Orientation at Providence Hospitals is designed to address the individual needs of the graduate or inexperienced nurse in the critical care setting. This fully paid orientation occurs in a supportive learning environment with a carefully selected, highly skilled preceptor and a team of experienced educators.

The orientation includes a six month orientation based in the critical care environment. It starts with general hospital orientation which includes a week of didactic and skills review and progresses to a specialty orientation that focuses on caring for the critical patient. Throughout the program, you will receive:

  • Instruction utilizing hands on activities through case scenarios and simulations designed to improve your ability to make critical nursing judgments;
  • Equipment training by experts;
  • Progressive clinical responsibility;
  • Networking opportunities with colleagues across any disciplines;
  • An individualized plan that maps out learning opportunities with experienced educators serving as your liaisons with your unit managers and hospital administration;
  • Access to the Essentials of Critical Care Orientation Modules by AACN for critical care nurses and Triage modules by the Emergency Nurse Association for ED nurses.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Training;
  • Available Continuing Education Courses that are free to employees.

Providence Hospitals hires new graduate nurses in the ICU, MCCU, CSR/CVICU, and the ED.
