Charge Nurse Development for Clinical Charge Nurses

The Charge Nurs Development program is designed to enhance and strengthen each unit based leadership embodied by the senior charge nurse role.   The focus is to develop the emerging nurse leaders that will result in improved continuity of care and improved outcomes.

Objective

The program objective is to provide Charge Nurse Role training resulting in:

  • Enhanced competency
  • Improved continuity of care
  • Increased opportunities for advancement into the entry level leadership role.

Content

  • The Charge Nurse Course (7 hours) quarterly. Seminar format class incorporating scenario based learning for skill development including: conflict management, staff assignments using synergy, unit leadership, disaster preparedness.
  • Charge Nurse Development Meeting (1 hour monthly). Incorporates scenario learning with the focus on current initiatives. Uses systems thinking to approach problem solving.
