On February 1, 2005, a group of Mended Hearts Chapter 189 members joined over 250 women dressed in red to rally at the State House to support the Red Dress Campaign.
Governor Mark Sanford's wife read a proclamation officially dedicating the first of February to the issue of heart disease in women. Mrs. Jones, from Camden and a heart survivor, addressed the rally. Additionally, the President and CEO of Providence Hospital, Steve Purves, addressed the rally.
Eight million U. S. women have heart disease, which kills more women annually than any other health problem. The Red Dress Campaign has brought real awareness to the issue of women and heart disease.
Thanks to our Mended Hearts Chapter 189 ladies - all dressed in red - who attended the rally.
