Cath Lab

• The Providence cath lab features six fully equipped labs.
• We performed almost 7,000 catheterizations in 2006 - more than any other hospital in South Carolina. This included:
  • 3,924 diagnostic procedures.
  • 3,039 therapeutic procedures.
• Procedures include PTCA, coronary stenting, DCA, rotational atherectomy and intravascular ultrasound imaging (IVUS), various peripheral diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• We were the first hospital in South Carolina to use carotid stents and the newest drug-eluting stents.
• We were the first hospital in the Midlands to perform alcohol septal ablation procedures.
• We participate in numerous clinical trials to bring patients the latest technology and treatments.

2 Heart

• This is an 18-bed patient unit for pre-and post-cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology studies.
• This unit is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m until 9 p.m., and is not open on weekends or holidays.
• It is a fast-paced clinical area with an average census of 18.
