Providence Heart & Vascular Institute, often called "South Carolina’s Heart Hospital," is a leader in the fight against the state’s number one killer, heart disease. The Heart Institute is the premier cardiac facility in South Carolina and one of the most respected in the nation. Equipped with six catheterization labs, four surgical suites and a leading-edge electrophysiology lab, the Heart Institute is consistently among the first to introduce new procedures such as MIDCAB (minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass) and "off-pump" or "beating heart" surgery. Providence also offers a nationally certified cardiac rehabilitation program on an outpatient basis to individuals who have had a heart attack, bypass surgery, angioplasty or a stent.
